Fire Up Your Holiday Weekend

 

There are numerous events happening around the region that involve fireworks, families and fun! 

The Torchlight Tatoo and Fireworks will be held on Friday, July 1st on Hilton Field at Fort Jackson.  The field opens at 4pm and the program begins at 8:30pm.  Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome but no pets, alcohol or personal fireworks. 

The 4th of July Celebration on Lake Murray, South Carolina’s largest fireworks display, is scheduled for Saturday, July 2, 2011. Fireworks will launch from two lake locations: Dreher Island and Spence Island. The annual event also includes a traditional boat parade at noon led by the Southern Patriot Tour Boat. It’s free to participate and fun for the whole family!

The Peach Festival, held in Gilbert, SC, will take place on Monday, July 4th.  The festivities include a car show, dancers, a parade, and lots of peach specialties. Check out the festival during the day and stay around for the fireworks in the evening. 

Head out on Monday night, July 4th,  to the Capital City Stadium to see the Columbia Blowfish play.  The game starts at 6:05pm and will end with lots of fireworks.  If the Blowfish don’t win, the fans are guaranteed a ticket to their next game!

The July 4th Freedom Festival is also returning to the Village at Sandhill in Northeast Columbia on Monday, July 4th, with its renowned fireworks show and great music. The concert is free and some of the confirmed music acts are The Fabulous Kays, Rock Candy, and Angela Easterling and a few more are tentatively scheduled. Fireworks will begin just after dusk and will be visible from throughout the Villages parking areas. Admission is free.
