Description:
This easy walking/riding section of the Palmetto Trail is much different than the others, because it is mainly urban and uses the city streets or sidewalks of downtown Columbia. Palmetto Trail signs guide you through neighborhoods, historical sites such as University of South Carolina, and the State Capital Building grounds. From Riverfront Park you can extend your hike or ride on the old Columbia Canal. Facilities are available at Riverfront Park and at various restaurants along the way.
