The rapid growth of the Columbia brewery scene deserves some attention.
Having gone from zero full-production breweries to three since summer 2013, the area has shown it is more than willing to embrace delicious, locally produced beers. At Columbia Brew Bus, we think it's time to create a tourism infrastructure between these establishments to bring the city's beer movement to as many people as possible.
Columbia Brew Bus aims to tap into the city's growing craft beer community by giving you a chance to visit, taste, and learn about each of the area's breweries in an all inclusive guided tour bus experience. Guests will get a behind-the-scenes look into how and why Columbia's breweries are making their mark, while cruising in a safe, laid-back manner.
Our goal is to make Columbia a major beer tourism destination by offering a previously unavailable, exciting, and safe transportation method that showcases some of the Southeast's newest and best breweries.
Each of our tours will include stops at our three partner breweries: Conquest, River Rat, and Swamp Cabbage. At each stop customers will be able to sample a variety of different styles of beer, receive a guided facility tour from a brewery staff member, and have the chance to buy brewery merchandise and/or growlers and bottles of beer to take home with them before hopping back on the bus to head to the next brewery. Each stop will last about an hour, with a total tour time of about three-and-a-half hours.
The tours will pick up and drop off from Liberty Taproom, our official partner restaurant located at 828 Gervais Street in Columbia's Vista.
Columbia Brew Bus is owned by good friends Chris Campbell, Mike de Kozlowski, and (me) Cam Powell. We all met while attending the University of South Carolina here in Columbia and became fast friends through our love of sports, comedy, and especially beer. When Swamp Cabbage announced their launch as the city's third full-production brewery, we saw an opportunity to connect Columbia residents and tourists alike with the budding beer scene in a fun and safe transport method.
As our contemporaries from school graduated and left the city without looking back, for one reason or another, we all stayed. Columbia is our home, and we want to provide its residents and tourists with a brand new entertainment option that they can be proud of and not have to travel to other Southeastern cities for a similar experience. We're a company that is passionate about the service we provide and want to help see Columbia's craft beer scene continue to grow.
We look forward to seeing you on a tour soon!
