Welcome to the Town of Gilbert website. The Town of Gilbert is a rural town located in the Midlands of South Carolina in Lexington County, approximately 12 miles from the Town of Lexington and 25 miles from the city of Columbia. Highway 1, Highway 378, Interstates I-20 and I-26 are all in close proximity to the Town. Lake Murray, a man-made lake that stretches across three counties and serves as a place of recreation and a source of power for local utilities, is less than a thirty minute drive.
Gilbert is a welcoming town that is home to nearly 700 residents. Like many others, I believe you will find that the people, community values and community spirit make Gilbert a great place to live, rear and educate your children. Gilbert Primary, Gilbert Elementary, Gilbert Middle and Gilbert High School located in Gilbert are some of the best schools in our State.
Gilbert is home to the annual Lexington County Peach Festival. There are more peaches grown in the state of South Carolina than that of the state of Georgia and the town of Gilbert has been celebrating this for over 50 years. The Peach Festival is held each July, which is the height of peach season and is always celebrated on the 4th of July. Festivities include a Peach Pageant, where one lucky lady is crowned Peach Queen, a parade through the town of Gilbert and ends with a spectacular fireworks celebration
