Tapp's Arts Center is Columbia's new community center for visual and performing arts located in the heart of Columbia on Main Street. The Center boasts 32 artist studios on two floors, a multi-use performance/event venue with room for up to 300 guests and a huge gallery with 300 linear feet of wall space. Local artists are able to rent studios, gallery space and install window displays to both create, show and sell their work. There is never a charge for patrons to take a stroll through and see some of the regions newest work.

All artwork in our main gallery is changed monthly with opening night occurring on the First Thursday of every month in conjunction with the First Thursdays on Main gallery crawl. This event just gets bigger and bigger with more patrons, venues and special events each month.

The Tapp’s building has been a part of Columbia’s downtown culture for almost a century. It is an iconic Art Deco, black and white fixture in the city skyline. Until 1995, Tapp’s enriched the Midlands of South Carolina by being a shopping and fashion frontrunner. Throughout the years, the building was continuously transformed into many different manifestations, until November 2nd, 2011 when Tapp’s Arts Center opened its doors. Our vision is to revive the devotion the community had to this location as we strive to invigorate our city with a rich culture that reflects the heart and soul of the people. With each passing day we continue to prosper into a place of creativity and imagination, as we transcend the barriers that divide our society, and unify the people with our unique brand of artists, style of music, and strength of performance. We invite you to Meet Me at Tapp’s, and become part of our movement of breathing creativity into our community.
