The 24th Annual ABA National Championship returns to Lake Murray, celebrating a legacy that began here in 2000. This premier event features weekend anglers competing for cash prizes and a new Caymas Boat. Anglers practice and compete, and the public is invited to watch and meet competitors.
What’s at Stake: Top anglers will vie for cash prizes, with the Champion and Angler of the Year each winning a new Caymas Boat with Mercury Marine outboard.
In 2000, Morris Sheehan, the new owner of the Military Bass Angler Association, rebranded the organization as American Bass Anglers and its tour as American Fishing Tour. That fall, ABA held its inaugural championship at Lake Murray, marking a significant milestone for weekend bass anglers across the country. This event was the humble beginning of a journey that has now spans 24 years.
