Birding for Beginners at Congaree National Park

Have you ever wanted to learn more about birds but didn’t know where to begin? This program offers information about how to start birding, and how to use binoculars and guide books to find birds in the forest. Relieve the stresses of your everyday life by taking the time to reconnect with nature and your inner forest. Join a ranger for a 2 mile (round trip) guided hike and birding talk on the Bluff Trail. You will be practicing forest bathing, birding and drawing sound maps.
Please meet at the Harry Hampton Visitor Center for the start of the program.
All you need to participate is yourself, a water bottle, tennis shoes, and comfortable, weather appropriate clothing.
Space is limited, so please make a reservation ahead of time. No experience necessary for this unique program. The park will provide binoculars to borrow for those who need them, as well as birding basics and ethics. If you have your own binoculars, you are welcome to bring them.
