Join the African American Historical Society of Irmo for their 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration at the Irmo Community Park (7507 Eastview Drive).

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is a national holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It honors the day news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Texas, the last Confederate state to abolish slavery. Juneteenth is a day of immense cultural significance for African Americans. It’s a time to remember the struggles and resilience of their ancestors and celebrate their hard-won freedom. This occasion is a celebration for all Americans to recognize the enduring spirit and triumphs of a community.
