Juneteenth Celebration in Irmo

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is a national holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It honors the day news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Texas, the last Confederate state to abolish slavery. The celebration will begin in the Harbison Theatre (7300 College Street) with a Gullah Geechee performance at 3:30 PM and continue at the Prisma Health Amphitheater located in the Irmo Community Park (7507 Eastview Drive) at 6:15 PM. There will be food trucks, dancing, a fashion show, a home-buying workshop, military recognition, along with many vendors and exhibitors.
