Lake Murray Duck Watching
Saturday, March 20 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm$55 – $60
USCG Captain Zach is back out on the water again, this time to chase the migrating waterfowl that use Lake Murray as a pit stop along their journey North. Unique birds like Blue-winged Teal, Common Loons, Horned Grebes, and American Coots all make Lake Murray their winter homes to escape the frigid Northern waters during the winter months. Not to mention Bald Eagles are more commonly seen around the lake in the winter time as these species of waterfowl are their preferred meals.
We’ll cast off from Jake’s Landing Marina at 8 am & return close to 12 pm. Being wild animals, there are no guarantees we will find all of our target species, but we will do our very best to position ourselves where we will have our best chance of viewing them. This tour costs $60 per adult, $55 for children 12 and under. Tours depart promptly from Jake’s Landing at 8 am. We encourage you to arrive at 7:30 am so that you will have plenty of time to board. Note that guests who arrive late will be left at the dock and will not receive a refund or opportunity to reschedule. Jake’s Landing is located at 220 Jake’s Landing Road, which is off of North Lake Drive near the Lake Murray Dam in Lexington. There is a $3 fee per car to park at Jake’s Landing, and carpooling is encouraged. Please pay for parking inside the building, before you board. Chilled water will be provided on the tour, and you are welcome to bring beverages or snacks. There are restrooms at Jake’s Landing, but not on the boat. Lifejackets will be provided and are required to be worn by children 13 and under. You will be able to keep a safe distance from fellow passengers on the 23′ pontoon boat, and you are welcome to wear a mask during the trip.
