Fireworks burst over Lake Murray in a show of patriotic pride
About Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration

Each year on the Saturday before July 4th, we light up the sky in the largest fireworks show in South Carolina! This year, join us on Saturday, June 28, 2025 for Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration 2025!

In this annual event, fireworks are set off from Spence Island and Dreher Island in this spectacular display of patriotic pride. The show is synchronized with patriotic music that is aired simultaneously on a local radio station for viewers to listen to while enjoying the show. Thousands of people watch the fireworks show by boat on the lake every year.

Pro tip: the best spot to watch the fireworks is right on Lake Murray by boat! If you don’t have your own boat, don’t worry, because there are designated fireworks viewing spots on land at Dreher Island State Park!

Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration is funded every year with the proceeds from Taste of Lake Murray, the sole fundraiser for the patriotic event. Taste of Lake Murray 2025, presented by Lexington Medical Center, will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Columbia. Find more information about “The Social Event of the Year” here!
