About Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration
Every year, Lake Murray lights up with a breathtaking fireworks show launched from Spence and Dreher Islands. This year, join us on Saturday, June 28, 2025 for Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration 2025! The show is synchronized to patriotic music broadcast on 93.1 The Lake, and will be live-streamed on WIStv.com. Tune into WIS News 10 on July 4th for the broadcast show during primetime. Thousands of spectators take to their boats to celebrate under the stars in true red, white, and blue style!
Pro tip: the best spot to watch the fireworks is right on Lake Murray by boat! If you don’t have your own boat, don’t worry, because there are designated fireworks viewing spots on land at Dreher Island State Park!
Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration is funded every year with the proceeds from Taste of Lake Murray, the sole fundraiser for the patriotic event. Taste of Lake Murray 2025, presented by Lexington Medical Center, was held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Columbia. Thank you to all attendees, sponsors, volunteers, and participants for making it an incredible success!

On Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, experience the Spirit of Americana in Lake Murray Country with two incredible patriotic events: Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration and The Great Race Grand Finish!
Car lovers, mark your calendars! The grand finish of the 2025 Great Race—America’s oldest and most prestigious vintage automobile rally—rolls into Moore Park in Irmo, SC on Sunday, June 29. Lake Murray will welcome participants as they complete their journey from Minnesota. This free event offers a rare chance to see more than 100 vintage vehicles up close, including century-old classics, muscle cars, hot rods, and high-end sports cars. Meet the drivers and navigators, soak in the Spirit of Americana, and witness the crowning of the 2025 Great Race Grand Champion!
