Mike Farris & The Fortunate Few

Thursday, September 30, 2021 @ 8:00 pm

2015 Grammy® Award winner for Best Roots Gospel album, Mike Farris, has enough heart, soul, and power to light up a city. Hear songs from his latest album, “Silver & Stone” and “Tennessee Girl.” Whether rearranging songs of centuries past or infusing new lyrical life to songs, it became clear that Mike’s vocal gift is simply the surface of a very deep well.

“Shine for All the People,” the 2015 Grammy Award winner for Best Roots Gospel album, bears witness to the determination of putting one foot in front of the other and to the power of music to get you there. “I’ve discovered that falling is a divine thing,” Mike adds. “It’s part and parcel of being human. The important thing is to keep the faith and keep moving on. Daring to be courageous enough to share our deepest burdens with each other is the greatest gift we can give.” 2018 release “Salvation in Lights” continues the theme of salvation out of tribulation.

Opera House alum Marty Stuart said of Mike, “Mike Farris is a soul man…way cool! When I saw him on TV the first time, even though I did not know who he was, I thought he was a star. When I heard his record, I knew he was.”

Farris’ latest album “Silver & Stone” is earthy and personal and features such classics as Bill Wither’s “Hope She’ll Be Happier” and originals like “Tennessee Girl.” Come be taken to church with gritty honest musical storytelling by Farris.
