Description
“It wouldn’t be the Holiday Season without the Nutcracker!”
Become entranced by the beauty of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her dazzling Court, enchanted by the swirling snowflakes and breathtaking snow, and cheer for the tiny toy soldiers and their leader, the handsome Nutcracker Prince. A sparkling production with beautiful costumes and sets, this is truly….’the all-time family favorite.”
We join Judge Silberhaus and his family at their annual Christmas party. It is a warm and friendly event where guests waltz in silk gowns and elegant tuxedos while the children are dressed in jewel-tone satin dresses with lace-edged pantaloons, and the boys are proud in their velvet knickers. Our Nutcracker Prince is an instant favorite, especially to Clara, the Judge’s daughter. She is even more smitten with him when he fixes her Nutcracker doll, a gift from her mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer which was broken in a fit of envy by her little brother, Franz. When she falls asleep that night, she dreams of a fierce battle between an army of toy soldiers and huge wicked rats. The Nutcracker battles the Mouse King and is saved at the very last moment by Clara, who fails him with her shoe. To thank her for saving his life, he takes her on a wonderful journey.
They travel through the land of the swirling snowflakes whose Queen sends them to the magical Kingdom of the Sweets. There they are awed by the grandeur of the palace and the wonder of the many representatives from different lands – Chocolate from Spain, Coffee from Arabia, Tea from China, the comically endearing Marzipan Shepherdesses, the twirling and flying Russians, the delightful tumblers that come out from under Mother Goose’s enormous skirt, the exquisite Waltz of the Crystalline Flowers with a scintillating Dewdrop and her Cavalier, and the most wonderful of all, the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier.
As the Sugar Plum Fairy and her court wave goodbye, Clara’s Uncle Drosselmeyer mysteriously appears with the magical Nutcracker. Alas, it was all a dream. But was it?
