Peace in Parks at Congaree National Park

Saturday, September 24 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Join Ranger Karli on a peaceful hike to recharge your mind.

Calming your mind and focusing on the natural world around you can be a difficult thing in our busy world. This program will offer tips and activities to relax and find peace in nature. We will also be following the life journey of Stephen Mather, the first director of the National Park Service, and learning about his mental health story and his acts of conservation in our nation’s parks.

Please meet at the Harry Hampton Visitor Center at 9:30 AM, we will begin our 1.5 mile hike from there, we will then be traveling to the Bluff Campground for a meditation session. All you need to participate is yourself, a water bottle, comfortable hiking shoes, and weather appropriate clothing.

Health benefits of exercise in nature:

• Boosted immune system

• Reduced blood pressure

• Reduced stress

• Improved mood

• Increased ability to focus

• Increased energy level

Program is subject to cancellation or rescheduling due to weather.
