NEW DATE FOR SHAMROCK PARADE!

The Blowfish organization is planning our most exciting parade yet now with a new date! How about St. Patrick’s Day Sunday March 17 at 3 PM in downtown Lexington! (With the impending weather Saturday of rain/thunderstorms it made sense to set the new date).

Marching down Main Street and performing is the 282nd Army Band, The Connick School of Irish Dancers, the Ancient Order of Hibernians carrying the Irish Flags, Parade Floats, Pageant Winners, Blowie the Blowfish, Captain America, Ollie Otter, O’Hara’s Irish Band, childrens entertainer Mark Lippard, the Jamil Shriners Choo-Choo Train, a vintage fire truck, Mr. & Mrs Shamrock, Miss Ireland & Jr Miss Ireland, musicians from Freeway Music, Classic Cars & many more entries for this year’s parade.

The announcing of the parade entries will be in front of O’Hara’s Public House on Main Street in Downtown Lexington with emcee Jonathon Rush (2021 Shamrock Parade Grand Marshal).

The Irish connection & history…Back in 2015 Lexington County Blowfish Baseball co-owner Bill Shanahan had an idea to bring to the Town of Lexington a new family event & a way for Bill to honor his Irish heritage! As a young child who grew up in a traditional Irish family in San Francisco, Bill & his 2 sisters were trained in Irish Step Dancing for years marching in the annual San Francisco St. Patrick’s Day Parade & performing at Irish Festivals.

Wherever Blowfish owners Bill & Vicki Shanahan have been during their 40 year professional sports career, owning & operating minor league baseball teams, if the town didn’t have a St. Patrick’s Day Parade…the Shanahan’s started one up!

Since its beginning in 2016, the Shamrock Parade has continued to grow and has now become a tradition in Lexington County! It’s about family fun & enhancing the quality of life in our community & to begin to understand a little bit of what Patrick stood for.
