Woodpecker Walk at Congaree National Park

Have you ever heard drumbeats on trees and wanted to know which bird is making that noise? This program offers information about woodpeckers, their habitat in Congaree and the Park’s prescribed burn program.
This hike will be around 2 miles round trip in the forest of pines, you will be hiking along the bluff and firefly trail to check out the woodpeckers in the park and their homes.
Please meet at the Harry Hampton Visitor Center for the start of the program. All you need to participate is yourself, a water bottle, tennis shoes, and comfortable, weather appropriate clothing. Space is limited, so please make a reservation ahead of time.
No experience necessary for this unique program. The park will provide binoculars to borrow for those who need them, as well as birding ethics. If you have your own binoculars, you are welcome to bring them.
