Agritourism is big in Lake Murray Country. For those that don’t know, agritourism is any activity that helps people connect to agriculture, like visiting a working farm or any agricultural, horticultural, or agribusiness operation to enjoy, learn from, or participate in agricultural activities. In other words, getting a true farm experience. In this region, visitors might tour a farm and discover that milk does not come from a plastic container in the grocery store, or visitors could learn about cotton and how it is produced. Our rural towns, such as Ridge Spring, Saluda, Lexington and Newberry offer u-pick farms where visitors can pick berries, peaches, pumpkins and other produce; or they can navigate corn mazes and go on hayrides. Lake Murray Country is also home to the largest Orchid Nursery east of the Mississippi…a great horticultural gem!
