Itineraries Grandmother Playcation Itinerary

Fun Kid-Friendly Things to Do in Lake Murray Country

Miriam Atria is the President/CEO of Capital City/Lake Murray Country and lovingly known as Nona to her grandkids. “One of life’s most rewarding memories is that one can share with a grandchild.” With this itinerary, spend the day exploring Miriam’s top picks for fun kid-friendly things to do in the region, which includes spending time outdoors, eating locally, exploring history and art, and most importantly, making lasting memories with your grandchildren.

Day 1

Hike the Palmetto Trail: Peak to Pomaria Passage

If it’s a cool day in the region, take the little one(s) for a hike on the Peak to Pomeria trail.  This segment of the Palmetto Trail is easier for older folks as well as children with a flat route for most of the 10-mile journey. Take in the views from the trail’s bridges where you can spot some birds, like owl herons and hawks, and maybe some turtles by the water. Pro tip: Park at one of the three trailheads.
