Team USA Pairings Announced – Bass World Championship

Columbia, SC – The official Bass Fishing World Championship is set for October 16-22 as the fishing world descends upon Lake Murray in Columbia, SC. The event, officially sanctioned by the Confederation Internationale de Peche Sportive – CIPS, is the only bass fishing world championship acknowledged by the International Olympic Committee through their affiliation with AIMS (Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport – https://aims.sport ) and GAISF (Global Association of International Sports Federations – https://gaisf.sport )
The USA Bass Team is set to repeat their 2019 gold medal performance at the World Championships held in Mexico on Lake Cuchillo. USA Bass is led by USA Bass President Mark Schlarb, Team Captain Scott Martin and coaches Charlie Evans and David Fritts. They are proud to announce the pairings for the 2022 team:
The USA Bass team has amassed 48 tour wins, nine “Angler of the Year” titles and five Tour Championships!
Team Scott Martin & Scott Canterbury have fished together in two past World Championships. They won both the individual gold and team gold at the 2019 World Championships. They have great chemistry in this format.
Team Fred Roumbanis & James Watson have a special bond on the water. The two good friends bring energy and excitement to the event. They are also two time World Championship medalists.
Team Mark Rose & Anthony Gagliardi bring a veteran presence to the team. This is also Anthony’s home lake and site of his FLW’s Forrest Wood Cup win. Look for big things from this pair!
Team David Dudley & Jacob Wheeler share a combined six Angler-of – the – Year titles between them. These MLF pros are fierce competitors and are capable of a dominating performance!

The 2022 Bass World Championship is an important step for the expansion of bass fishing globally. Lake Murray is recognized as America’s premier tournament bass fishing destination. Teams competing in the 2022 World Championships include: USA, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Germany, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Estwatini, Australia, South Korea, Philippines, Costa Rica, Laos, Japan, Colombia, Romania and Venezuela. There is plenty of pent-up excitement from international anglers such as fishing legend Bob Izumi who will be leading Team Canada.
Learn to fish from the pros at “Youth Angling Day” and kick off the XVI Black Bass World Championship!
Cost: Free, *Open to children of all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Watch the XVI Bass World Championship weigh-in on the MLF stage followed by a Country Music concert with Cody Webb. Come hungry, there will be food trucks & vendors!
Fee: This is a free event, however there is a $5 park entry fee at Dreher Island State Park.
