There are so many helpers in our community to highlight. When
the pressure is on, it’s up to businesses large and small to do things that will help better their employees, customers and the community. We wanted to take the time to highlight a few businesses in our local community that need the recognition.

Nephron Pharmaceuticals’ CEO, Lou Kennedy, decided to produce hand sanitizer to help fight the coronavirus. Nephron received FDA approval and began making its own hand sanitizer. In late March, Nephron
donated 50 liters of hand sanitizer manufactured by the company to the Dorn VA Medical Center. Nephron wanted to support veterans and their families during this difficult time.

Hollow Creek Distillery, located in Leesville, SC, shifted their production from whiskey to hand sanitizer. The state of South Carolina contacted Hollow Creek Distillery and staff members immediately got on the job.
The first thing they did was Google search what materials to buy and then they got to work. Hollow Creek has delivered close to 2000 bottles to facilities across South Carolina. They are going to continue the production of sanitizer as long as the alcohol supply lasts.

Bolder Engraving, one of our partners located in Irmo, SC, is now making mask extenders/ear savers for those in the medical field who have to wear a mask for 12 hours a day. These take the elastic bands off of the ears to reduce bruising and rashes. They are taking orders for these now but supplies are limited. These will be offered FREE to anyone in the
medical field who needs one. Bolder Engraving is also excepting
donations to help purchase more material to make these. Contact them at [email protected]

Lexington Hospitality, which owns several hotels in the region including the Aloft Downtown Columbia, is providing discounted rates for first responders and healthcare professionals at properties near the hospital where they work.

SREE Hotels, in Columbia, is offering meals to employees who have had their hours cut due to the virus. The owner believes that since he can’t provide workers with more hours, he can provide them with a hot meal and food for their immediate family members.

The Columbia Fireflies are supporting the “Peace of Mind” program that provides free hotel rooms to Columbia first responders, medical professionals and frontline city staff. To support “Peace of Mind,” the Fireflies are selling a limited edition “Wash Your Wings” T-shirt.
Fans can purchase these shirts online at https://fireflies.milbstore.com.

The Palmetto Shop, a local embroidery and screen-printing company, is selling South Carolina strong t-shirts. The proceeds from the sale of the shirts are donated to the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association/Hospitality COVID-19 Relief Fund.
