Day 1

Columbia Museum Itinerary: Day #1

A visit to downtown Columbia offers an array of opportunity from visual arts to military history and family fun with a 40-foot boy!

Columbia is home to many historic landmarks. A tour of the State House showcases the working halls of our State Government, while the exterior grounds showcase indigenous plantings and century old plantings. The five bronze stars located on the exterior of the building are a reminder of our state’s role in the Civil War.

Within walking distance is the newly remodeled Columbia Museum of Art which showcases a standing chronological display of art through the years, rotating exhibits and gallery offerings of significant works as well as a hands on learning studio for cultivating and inspiring young and emerging talent.

Day 2

Columbia Museum Itinerary: Day #2

The South Carolina State Museum, located on the banks of the Congaree River, is the primary storyteller for our state’s rich history. Serving as an educational and inspirational venue, the museum offers four floors with more than 70,000 artifacts. The collections represent South Carolina Art, Natural History, Science & Technology and Cultural History. The museum’s main highlight is the digital dome planetarium, 4D interactive theater and the observatory.

Adjacent to the SC State Museum is the SC Confederate Relic Room, the state’s 3rdoldest museum, which chronicles the State’s military history by collecting, preserving, and exhibiting South Carolina’s military material from the colonial era to the present.

Across the parking lot, a family fun adventure awaits at Edventure Children’s Museum. Guests are greeted by “Eddie,” the 40-foot inquisitive boy. Dedicated to creating lifelong learners through hands-on experiences, programming and camps, the kid friendly museum offers a variety of real-life learning experiences that instill joy and fun at every turn!

No matter where you start, your trip to Columbia will be filled with adventure, exploration, and southern hospitality.
