Catch a fly ball at Lexington’s Blowfish game!

Head downtown to the Fireflies professional baseball league and their multi-purpose stadium. You might see Cocky, SC’s official sport mascot while in town taking in our college sporting events. World class bass fishing, sailboat regattas and numerous water sport activities all are waiting for your visit to Capital City Lake Murray Country.

Day 1

Sports Day #1

Sports enthusiasts love to visit Lake Murray Country and it’s not all about the fishing, although that does play a big part! Spend the day on Lake Murray, which offers world-class fishing year round. There’s a long list of fishing guides that are waiting to take you out for your big catch.  And, Lake Murray is not the only fishing hole… our three rivers are easily accessible for fishing and other watersports. The athletic tubers, canoers and kayakers love Columbia’s rivers …there are even a few rapids that will get your heart racing fast. After spending the day on the water, check out a baseball game either at Segra Park to watch the Columbia Fireflies or the Lexington Blowfish at the Lexington County Baseball Stadium.  Both teams are fun to watch and enjoy the flavor of the season…hot dogs, popcorn and a few brews.

Day 2

Sports Day #2

For the hikers and mountain bikers, Lake Murray Country has tons of trails and some very challenging ones. Harbison State Forest and Sesquicentennial State Park are known for their popular mountain biking excursions.

Interested in golf? There are 19 courses in the region that will book your tee time today!

Lastly, depending on the sports season, visitors to the region can enjoy the spirited challenge of collegiate basketball at the Colonial Life Arena, or the traditions of tailgating and Saturday football games at Williams Brice Stadium. The whole city comes alive when the Gamecocks turn up the heat on their fiercest competitors.
