Stroll through the City of Newberry’s historic downtown district where the streets are lined with picturesque shops and restaurants and nearly every building within view is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Newberry Opera House anchors downtown as a world-renowned performing arts center that sees more than 150 performances a year (only 1 opera). If community theater interests you, check out the Newberry Community Players. If you're on the hunt for antiques stop by Prosperity and Little Mountain where you are sure to find your next treasure!

Dining

While visiting downtown Newberry, you’ll find fine dining at Figaro the Dining Room, world-class BBQ at SteelHorse SmokeHouse, and homemade doughnuts at Laila’s Place. Indulge in a frosty margarita by land or lake at Na’Cho Margarita at Martin’s Landing. Make sure to stop by Little Mountain Unlimited Antique Mall and Cafe and plan to stay for lunch! If you love wine, plan to spend some time at Enoree River Vineyards and Winery exploring the vineyard and sampling locally handcrafted wine made with 100% real juice.

The county was named after John Newberry, an English physician and botanist.

Outdoor Fun

Outdoor enthusiasts will find paradise in the picturesque natural landscapes of Newberry County, from the enchanting Enoree River to the scenic trails of Sumter National Forest to camping at Dreher Island State Park. Take your little ones to Gully Washer Splash Park to cool down in the South Carolina heat. Venture behind Newberry City Hall and you’ll find the Wells Japanese Garden, an excellent example of both historic design and vernacular landscape, or jump on the Palmetto Trail – right in downtown Newberry. Explore the newest TRACK trails in the Kids in Parks Program at Lynch’s Woods and the Hidden Pond.

Enjoy a show at the historic Newberry Opera House in downtown Newberry, where over 150 national touring performances pass through the doors annually.
